One of Alfred Hitchcock’s most iconic films.was based on this book, with at least two other subsequent versions on film and later a stage show. The 39 Steps introduced Buchan’s hero Richard Hannay. Espionage ,the aftermath of the first world war leading into the WWII, ruthless men, dastardly deeds and a manhunt. Still a wonderful read.
